You are the father of comfort and the God of all consolation. I pray today for those parents who grieve inconsolably for children who have died.
Lord, please comfort these parents in their sorrow. Walk with them through the dark valleys they now walk through. Fill their emptiness with your peace that passes all understanding.
Hold them in your loving arms and let them know beyond a shadow of a doubt that their child is now safe and at home with you. Grant them the assurance that their child is only asleep in your keeping until the resurrection.
Flood their hearts with joyful memories of the child you gave them for a short season. Help them accept the reality that they must walk on without their little one at their side. Strengthen their souls, revive their spirits, and fill them anew with hope that rises above their grief.
Pour out your Holy Spirit to heal their deep wounds and mend their broken hearts. Lord Jesus, you wept at the tomb of Lazarus, you comforted the parents of Jairus’ daughter.
So come now in your great mercy and bind up the broken heartedness of these parents who have lost a child. Dry every tear and give them perfect peace that the world can never take away.
Holy Spirit, bring renewal, restoration, and new life to these grieving parents. Rekindle their joy and revive their souls with the hope of resurrection and reunion with their precious child in eternity. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
